Biography

Richard Wallace, serves as Director, Transportation Systems Analysis group within the Center for Automotive Research (CAR).  He has 24 years of experience designing, conducting, and managing transportation projects and research.  Richard leads CAR’s research activities focused on connected and automated vehicle technology and advanced mobility. He leads a team whose background spans from transportation planning and engineering to public policy and whose domain expertise includes technology forecasting, connected vehicle technology and regulation, automated vehicle technology and regulation, mobility services, vehicle safety, freight movement, and other critical topics. Richard also plays an important role in CAR’s conference activities, including CAR MBS.

Richard holds an M.S. in technology and science policy from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a B.S. in chemical engineering from Northwestern University. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Intelligent Transportation Society of Michigan. His work has been published in Transportation Research Record and other leading publications.
